About the Item
This is a good quality English Dining Table made from hardwood, in the period of George III, during the very early 19th Century, late Georgian, early Regency period. circa 1810.
This table will seat 8 people comfortably and an occasional 10 people, depending on the chair arrangement. The table is made of hardwood, possibly red walnut, with all the tops, legs and pedestal being solid hardwood with veneers to the frieze on the end sections.
The table has three separate sections;
Two D-End Side Tables of the same size; 42 inches x 24.65 inches and
One tilt-top centre pedestal table of top size 42 inches x 27.65 inches.
It is a very flexible table and can be arranged in a number of ways according to how you prefer to use it at any one time;
For example:
The two end tables can be used to make two independent D-End Pier Tables.
The two ends can be clipped together to form a nearly square dining table.
The tilt-top centre pedestal table can be used on its own as a free standing breakfast table.
OR finally, the larger dining table can be formed with all the sections clipped together. ( making a table 78 x 42 inches ( 6ft 6 inches x 3ft 6 ins)
The two D-ends are rectangular with solid tops having rounded corners and with rounded edges, each having four vertically fluted or reeded legs and tulip feet, with a cross banded freeze formed under the top, on three of the sides.
The centre pedestal table has a solid top which tilts on a block, supported on a pedestal base with a solid central hand carved pillar, holding three out swept legs
The sections all clip together with four brass clips that locate under the edge of each table section as per the images.
The table has a lovely depth of color and patina developed over 200 years of use.

- Fine Georgian Extending Dining Table D Ends with Two Leaves, English, circa 1785Located in Lincoln, LincolnshireThis is a high quality English extending dining table made from hardwood, in the period of George III, during the late 18th century, circa 1785. This table will seat 10 people on account of its large width of over 54 inches plus the semi circular ends. It has two D-ends ( semi circular) each having four legs, the two outer ones being fixed and fluted and the two inside ones being gated, swinging out to support the leaves when required. There are two additional leaves. The tops and legs are solid hardwood, with all the legs being square tapered, ending in carved spade feet, with what look to be the original brass castors. The edges to the table top are horizontally reeded and the curved side under-frames are veneered. This is a very versatile dining table. The D-ends can be used separately as pier tables or joined together to form a circular table. The table can be easily extended, using either one or both leaves as required. When fully extended with the two leaves inserted the piece forms a large elegant dining table, capable of seating ten people, the sections clipping together with six brass clips. The color and patina of this table is superb, having a rich patina, only possible with over 200 years of repeated polishing. For similar 18th C.
