Raymond Subes Attributed Wrought-Iron Hand-Hammered Console Table, ca. 1930’s
About the Item
An exceptional Art Deco console table made from hand-hammered wrought iron (“fer forgé martelé” in French) with a white-veined marble top, ca. 1930’s, attributed to, we believe, Raymond Subes (1891-1970), the French Art Deco master metalworker and a contemporary of Edgar Brandt, also famous for his metalwork.
The table is a perfect example of high Art Deco design with its graceful and organic flowing lines and attractive eye-pleasing scrolls.
It is in very good vintage condition with a wonderful patina that is consistent with its age and wear. It is strong and sturdy. For admirers and collectors of Art Deco, this is a beautiful table to have and admire.
