French 19th Century Transitional St. Mahogany and Ormolu Vitrine
About the Item
A superb and most elegant French 19th century Transitional st. Mahogany, ormolu and Brèche d'Alep marble cabinet vitrine. The two door vitrine is raised by four slender cabriole legs with fine foliate ormolu sabots with chutes leading to beautiful scrolled corner mounts, elegant columns, and finely chased scrolled foliate mounts above. The scalloped shaped apron is centered by a pierced foliate ormolu mount below a delicate fillet. At the center are two doors, each retaining their original lightly curved hand blown glass panes framed within a lovely finely detailed mottled foliate ormolu band and which open to reveal two glass shelves and the original mirrored backplate. The sides also retain their original curved glass panes framed in the same manner. The frieze displays a stunning intricately detailed pierced ormolu band with richly chased interlocking scrolled Rinceaux designs and beautiful foliate movements. Above is the original Brèche d'Alep marble top fitted within a delicate and most elegant pierced ormolu gallery with a fine beaded trim, swaging drapes, and tassel details. All original gilt throughout.
