About the Item
Modernist bronze bookends by Ben Seibel in good condition. Ben Seibel (1918-1985) was an American industrial designer who worked primarily in the mid-20th century. He was known for his versatile and prolific design output, which included a wide range of products such as dinnerware, glassware, flatware, and home accessories.
Seibel began his career in the 1940s, working for the ceramic company Iroquois China. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he worked for a number of companies including Mikasa, Steubenville Pottery, and Rosenthal. His designs were widely popular and he won numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Good Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art. His designs are now considered iconic examples of Mid-Century Modern design, and are highly sought after by collectors.
