Profound style, Pleasing Presence, AND Pecky Cypress? YES!!! This dresser is ALL OF THAT!!! (and maybe a little more!!) While there are plenty of dressers in this world… occasionally you come across a dresser with style that presides over the others…like this marvelous vintage 6 drawer dresser with a lovely framed arch mirror by Dillingham Manufacturing Company. We searched high and low for a line or an artist to credit on this piece but sadly, to no avail… but no matter… it is incredible AND it is definitely by Dillingham as per the tag in the drawer. Speaking of the drawers… it has six flat panel front drawers comprised of rustic pecky cypress bearing knots and worm holes inherent to the pecky cypress. The body or case of the dresser is walnut, and it has a wonderful black painted plinth base which gives it a mesmerizing floating effect! The mirror is arch shaped surrounded by a rectangular rustic pecky cypress backing trimmed with a walnut outer rim. Talk about GORGEOUS!!!! Obviously it is going to be a fabulous dresser enhancing the beauty in your bedroom but maybe you love this piece and don’t necessarily need another dresser at this time. No problem! It would be marvelous used as a credenza, buffet, or sideboard in your dining room, family room, or study. Place it under a large piece of artwork in the entry or adorn it with a beautiful sculpture or a wonderful pair of lamps. Use the mirror separately in a different room! Maybe your dressing area or on a wall in the hallway. So much potential!!! It is versatile, has tons of adequate storage space, and an impeccable style sure to make a bold statement in your home! This is a classic beauty with a stunning Mid-Century Modern presence that you are sure to love for years to come.
John Thomas Dillingham was born in 1833 in West Falmouth, Massachusetts. He studied at Friends College at Providence, Rhode Island and became involved in the mercantile life as his father owned a store. In 1856 he went into Legislature where he served one term in Massachusetts. Dillingham Manufacturing Company began under the title Swift, Dillingham, & Co. in 1857 as a sawmill business which included Joseph Swift (Dillingham’s Father-in-Law,) his brother-in-law, E. Slade, and himself, J.T. Dillingham. In 1866 that partnership was dissolved, and Dillingham acquired the manufacturing department. After his death in 1889, Dillingham Manufacturing Company was incorporated, and Edwin Slade was President. Throughout its history, Dillingham Furniture Co. became one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the United States and collaborated with renowned designers and artists, further enhancing its reputation in the industry. Notable designers who worked with the company included Milo Baughman, Merton Gershun, and Kipp Stewart. They closed their doors permanently in 1988 but the company's contribution to the American furniture industry remains significant and many pieces are sought after today.
High-quality manufacturer, versatility, and a striking style that you can only find in a vintage Dillingham piece. This marvelous vintage dresser is just too exquisite to let go. You simply MUST have it… so, just do it… make it YOURS!!!

Lane was founded in 1912 by Edward Hudson Lane at the age of 21, upon his father’s suggestion after he, John Edward Lane, bought a small packing-box plant in Altavista, Virginia. Edward procured a loan and converted the factory to make cedar chests and named it The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. Sales were good and the company expanded. But during WWI, with the banning of rail freight deemed non-essential, they began making pine ammunition boxes. This is notable as it led to an assembly line which was revolutionary and became the first moving conveyor assembly system in the furniture industry. After the war, with sales still increasing, Ed Lane decided he could risk giving the company his name and changed it to The Lane Co...Category

- American of Martinsville Accord Walnut & Cane Dresser & Bachelor’s Chest w/ X’sBy Merton Gershun, American of MartinsvilleLocated in Topeka, KSHandsome pair of chests from American of Martinsville and Merton Gershun’s Accord line of furniture with the signature X’s and asymmetric handles. One is the long walnut dresser with three drawers and cane doors and the second is the three-drawer bachelor’s chest. Two separate pieces but butted together make one long marvelous piece. We are pricing them as a set. Both are in wonderful restored condition. However, they are not without signs of age and use having an overall beautiful age patina which includes small nicks, scratches, and imperfections but nothing major. Please see photos, circa mid-20th century. Oh my! If you could ever say X marks the spot for a piece of furniture…you can say it with this pair. Note the metal signature crosses in their tops and their fabulous asymmetric or staggered handles. These gorgeous chests are from the Accord collection produced in the mid-20th century by American of Martinsville and designed by Merton Gershun. One piece is the longer dresser which is comprised of a bank of three drawers next to three doors with cane inserts. One door opens to the left and the other two doors bi-fold open to the right revealing three interior drawers. This dresser alone is wonderful but paired with the matching bachelor’s chest, which has the same bank of three drawers as the dresser, and butted next to the doors, making it one extra long cabinet...Category
