About the Item
A Dutch steel painted wood look safe cabinet, ca. 1895
A safe made of steel, painted and represents a cabinet made of wood. This extremely heavy safe is opened by pressing and turning the key, allowing the extremely heavy door to be opened. The photos show a large working lock inside at the back of the door. The safe was made by Nico van Vuure, a manufacturer in Alkmaar located before 1900 at the address Luttik Oudorp (Zaadmarkt 50) in Alkmaar. Added a photo of a newspaper, right, 2nd column
The following is written in old Dutch writing:
"Device for Metal Decoration, Nickel plating, and Copper plating, etc. Iron warehouse and Forge factory and warehouse of fireplaces, stoves, etc. Seed market Ns. 77-78. Device for refractory coating of various objects. The undersigned hereby reports that the CASE, as presented by the Gebrs. Van Vuure, at the LUTTIK-OUDORP (Seed Market), is CONTINUED in the same manner after January 1st. Thanking him for the trust he has received, he recommends himself again. Yours faithfully, NICO VAN VUURE, dated ALKMAAR, January 1, 1895"
