Small Georgian Mahogany Bureau Bookcase
About the Item
A Very Attractive Mid 18th Century, Georgian Mahogany Bureau bookcase Of Very Attractive, Rare, Small Proportions, With Dental Cornice Above Shaped Mirror Door Within Gilded Slip, Over Well Figured Flap And Three Long Drawers With Original Brass Handles, Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet.
A great example of its type this bureau bookcase retains a good colour and patina and it has been constructed using very good quality mahogany. The incredibly small size and proportion is extremely rare and of course means that it is certainly small enough to fit just about any space or spot that one can imagine.
The mirror plate within the door almost ceratinly isn't original, but is old and has been in situ for a reasonable amount of time, therefore it has aged accordingly in terms of marks, scuffs and scrapes.
It also boasts original brass handles and original bracket feet and we think that the shaped panel which encloses the mirror plate is a particularly elegant and classy touch.
As with all the items which we offer for sale this bureau bookcase has been attended to by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers before being advertised, meaning that it is ready to be placed straight into the home or office.

The top surmounted by a bold architectural pediment and centered by a brass finial. The two arched panel doors reveal three adjustable shelves which have candle slides below them. Furthermore, the bureau section is fitted with a stepped interior. This has two secret compartments, drawers and pigeon holes, and the fall is conventionally supported on two lopers. Lined in the best quality English oak. The blind doors of this Georgian cabinet have well-figured mahogany panels of very good rich color which reflect beautifully in the candle light.
