Unmarked, a known design serial marked to the reverse "No. 332 59" and dated 26 November 1965

A sleek and very attractive example of Johannes Sorth's adjustable bookcase executed in ebonized oak and oak veneers. Designed with five shelf spaces, the middle being fixed and the others adjustable. Raised over turned and tapered legs. A very nice profile.
*Note, we may still have available in our inventory a nearly matched example if a pair is needed - the matched example has a straight edge to all shelving while this example has bevelled edging to all shelving.
Measurements: 71 5/8" H x 11 1/8" D x 39 5/8" W
Condition Report:
Minor use indicators as expected: tiny nicks and light scratches to the sides including some impressions in the lower right corner of the left side, several minor veneer losses at back edges of the sides and to the edge of the highest shelf, other minor dings/abrasions from use; small hole drilled in the back for cords; all abrasions and veneer losses have been re-colored to reduce visibility; a very nice presentation.

- Large Art Deco Cerused Oak Display Cabinet Bookcase circa 1940Located in Shippensburg, PAART DECO CERUSED AND EBONIZED OAK DISPLAY CABINET WITH FLANKING BLIND BOOKSHELVES Probably German, as the locks are of German origin executed circa 1940 with chromed steel accents throughout Item # 401QGP02S A fabulous Art Deco era display cabinet, the substantial case piece features a glazed central door flanked by two blind-doors on either side. These open to reveal an adjustably shelved interior, the oak bars on the side allowing the 3/8" thick glass shelves to be flexibly changed to suit the books stored within. The central door features a chromed rim around the glass door that cohesively ties in with the chrome-plated keyhole escutcheons and the chrome base molding on the bottom of the cabinet. It was probably made in Germany, as one of the locks bears markings of German manufacture, though the craftsman may have simply had a preference for this locking mechanism and imported it. Note the high-grade of cabinet work throughout - all surfaces have been carefully veneered with a cerused and ebonized oak, the interior of the center display area with a red-stained cerused oak and the interior of each flanking cabinet space lined with mahogany veneers. Importantly, despite the incredibly spacious proportions, the entire cabinet can be disassembled for safe transport. The top is removed with bolts on the inside corners...Category

- George III English Antique Mahogany Bookcase Secretary Desk circa 1780Located in Shippensburg, PAGEORGE III MAHOGANY DIMINUTIVE SECRETARY WITH BOOKCASE England, circa 1780 Item # 307PZN13W A very fine secretary desk of diminutive proportions, this fabulous form features an upper bookcase with a cove-molded cornice over a pair of glazed doors with eight panels each, these divided with original astragal moldings, opening to reveal an adjustable three-shelf space bookcase. The doors are beautifully embellished with fluted pilasters boasting Ionic capitals that are exquisitely detailed with rich undercutting. The lower case features a brushing slide situated over five rows of graduated drawers, the second from the top cleverly fitted with a green baize writing surface that pushes back to reveal storage space beneath while the faceted glass inkwell bottles (one missing the lid) and double trough pen tray are situated along the right side. The timbers selected for the case are above reproach and present with a ruby hue throughout that is incredibly appealing, this finished under a glowing silky French polish to the mahogany veneers throughout. The drawers are hung with period Georgian brasses...Category
