19th Century Satinwood Cylinder Bookcase by "Edwards & Roberts"
About the Item
A fantastic quality satinwood cylinder bookcase by the London makers "Edwards & Roberts", the bookcase having a stepped moulded cornice with dentil moulding and ebony inlay, the two astragal glazed doors with the bars also inlaid with ebony opening to reveal three adjustable shelves, the bottom section having a tamber front opening to reveal a lovely fitted interior with various drawers, fitted compartments and a small cupboard in the center which includes a pull-out drawer with original inkwells, the drawer fronts and panel door made out of hare wood, with a pull-out pen tray with a green leather writing surface decorated with gold tooling, with one long over two short mahogany lined drawers below with original brass hardware and also inlaid with ebony, standing on four turned and fluted legs, circa 1880.

The twin astragal glazed doors open to reveal an adjustable shelved interior, having reeded canted corners. Constructed using the finest figured mahogany with satinwood and boxwood line inlaid detail. The lower section having figured mahogany top, banded in satinwood above a secretaire drawer depicting a central classical urn within a floral swags, enclosing six Satinwood drawers, six pigeon holes and a gilt tooled leather inset writing surface.
