Maxime Old, Fireside Chair
About the Item
The low chair designed by Maxime Old has a base in stained oak and matt varnish, and a seat that can be covered with fabrics or leather. We offer a color and fabric customization service.
The original edition of the Chauffeuse was designed by the French architect Maxime Old. The Chauffeuse was made for the Personalities Lounge at the Marseille – Marignane terminal in 1961. The lounge layout included low chairs accompanied by Maxime Old’s Saturn coffee table. This geometric model consists of blond mahogany wood, with a mustard-colored leather seat. However, the inclination of the seat and the height difference highlight the comfortable aspect and the value of the concept.
Maxime Old (1910-1991) is one of the most important designers, decorators, and interior architects of the 20th century. Additionally, he worked for large national institutions such as the Mobilier national or large shipping and hotel companies.
