Two original 1930s wooden chairs by the well-known Bauhaus student Peter Keler
About the Item
Two original wooden chairs from the 1930s by the well-known Bauhaus student Peter Keler.
He worked as a painter, graphic designer, architect, photographer and furniture designer.
Born in Kiel, he was a member of the Worpswede artists' group in the early 1920s.
He then went to Bauhaus in Weimar as a student. From 1921 he attended courses by Johannes Itten, Oskar Schlemmer and Wassily Kandinsky. During this time, furniture designs such as the cradle that he created for the first Bauhaus exhibition in 1923 were created. In the summer of 1922, Keler became a member of the constructivist, ambitious KURI group (constructive, utilitarian, rational, international) active at the Bauhaus.
After leaving the Bauhaus, he opened his own studio for free and applied painting,
Advertising graphics and interior design.
Beautiful minimalist design in very good vintage condition.
Seat is made of plywood. Frame probably made of maple or ash wood.
Very good condition with no damage to the wooden frame and seat.
The chairs were painted by hand. The frame has the first color.
The seat has a black color. Can't tell if it's the original color.
A scratch on the seat also shows a red color underneath. But maybe it's a primer.
Not wobbly, all wooden parts tight.
Both chairs in the same very good condition for the age of almost 100 years.
No unpleasant smell. Very few signs of wear, beautiful light patina.
100% original condition. Very comfortable and great seating comfort.
Suitable for all living areas and very decorative.
Completely cleaned. Immediately ready for use.
Price is for both chairs together.
