Entrancing 80 + Year Old Persian Meziti Runner 3' 9 " x 10' Exquisite Persian runner woven by the Meziti tribe located just south of the city of Shiraz. Recognized by few, works from this tribe are highly sought after by discerning collectors around the world. Known for their repeating octagonal designs and rich color schemes, rugs woven by these tribes are easily recognizable when you're lucky enough to see them. The Meziti tribe has since faded to obscurity, so these pieces are hard to come by and we are proud to be able to offer them to the public. Constructed entirely out of soft Persian wool that was raised, sheared, spun, dyed, and woven by a member of the Meziti tribe as they trekked across the deserts south of Shiraz. This tribes wool is particularly fine and radiant. Because the skillful techniques and high quality materials utilized in their rugs, these pieces easily last for hundreds of years. This runner is truly a statement piece. The intricate, geometric design of this rug is the signature of the Meziti tribe. Reminiscent of the garden designs featured in Bakhtiari rugs, the wheat plants incorporated in the design represent the time of the harvest that many Zorastian cultures celebrate. Mezitis show case their design skills by weaving intricate geometric rugs, with bold but well balanced color pallets. The rich navy, rusts, and yellow featured in this rug make absolutely eye catching. This color and design is incredibly versatile. Tribal rugs such as these go well with all decor modern or antique. These colors look incredible on all wood tones as well. Well on its way to being 100 years of age this rug is in fantastic condition. It does a have few spots where the rug has been rewoven, but it was expertly done and can really only be seen from the back of the rug. Apart from that the rug is in great condition with plenty of pile left despite its age. This piece is truly a testament to the lasting quality of these rugs. This piece, like the rest of our collection, was hand-picked by Persian Rug expert and Shiraz native, Jason Dadras. Each piece was acquired through the relationships he forged around the world. Our rugs are ethically sourced and have been legally imported.
