This art rug is made in a Mexican contemporary design, woven by Odabashian's network of family-owned weavers near Mirzapur, India with the finest New Zealand wool. The design was created by renowned Mexican designer Joel Escalona for the 2011 exhibition "Tapetes, Tejiendo Historias" at the Franz Meyer Museum in Mexico City.
Joel Escalona is one of Mexico's most promising industrial designers. Not one to shy away from bold and daring initiatives, Wallpaper Magazine calls him: "one of the top of the next wave of creative talent worldwide".
Often featured at the ICFF and has participated in numerous design fairs such as Maison & Objet as well as the Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City.

Joel Escalona
Joel Escalona is one of the most prolific and multidisciplinary designers of his generation. He has worked on a set of projects ranging from product design, furniture and jewelry, to consulting, creative direction and collectible design pieces for galleries. His work has been exhibited in the most important capitals of the world — in the most relevant events in the design and art world — such as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano and DesignMiami/Basel. Escalona’s work translates to much more than an extensive portfolio: It’s the materialization of the world that surrounds him, a reflection of himself.

While in Milan, she worked for two years as a junior architect for Matteo Thun & Partners. One of the five most important firms in Milan, Italy.
