Regal Tudor Style Antique Carved Oak Panel
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
Dating from circa 1700, this large antique oak panel is intricately carved with ten regal characters. This includes a King and Queen to the centre, soldiers, and various infants. It is highly ornate, with a rich oak colour and ancient looking woodgrain that instils the panel with a sense of history. Who were these characters? Perhaps once members of a noble family...

18th Century Italian Oak Box / Chest
Located in Carmine, TX
Small chest hand-made in Italy in the early 1700s using oak. This little guy is just the right combination of rustic, cute and old. Its small size make it a perfect piece for many different purposes: sofa side table, entryway accent piece, bedroom hiding spot for anything that does not have an officially assigned drawer in the house (what my mom used to call the cabinet of horrors when I was a teenager). Overall the chest or cassettina has a simple and rustic appearance. The hinges and rose-headed nails are still original, as well as the paw feet. The front of the case is decorated by two chamfered panels framed in round molding. Despite being very straight-lined the piece looks anything but flat because of all the little dents, chips, scratches and irregularities accumulated over hundreds of years of use, and this is really the best feature of this tiny gem, the patina is fantastic and one can see that this little guy had a long life, but it is still game...

18th Century Italian Walnut Trestle Side Table / End Table
Located in Carmine, TX
Small side trestle table hand-made in Italy using walnut in the early 1700s. This table is a sturdy piece softened by beautiful carvings and packs a lot of character is a small package. The top features an inset board framed on four sides, and is decorated by a rectangular carved motif, which is repeated on the apron. The two legs are connected by an h-stretcher and all of these elements are decorated by carving. As a nice juxtaposition to the rather simple and straight-lined top, the legs of the table have rounded sides and end in large scalloped feet. Additionally, depth is provided to the legs by the fluting on the top, the acanthus leaves on the edges, a cartouche on the center, and beading on bottom. The beading motif is repeated on the top and bottom edges of the stretcher, where the year 1462 is also carved in roman number. We do not think this carving is original to the time the piece was built, but may have been done to mark an important date for the family represented in the coat of arms...

Set Six Large Blue and White Chinese Porcelain Plates Hand-Painted Kangxi Era
Located in Katonah, NY
This set of six blue and white Chinese porcelain dishes was hand-painted 300 years ago, circa 1700, during the Kangxi dynasty. According to Sir Harry Garner, author of Oriental Blue and White, "The Kangxi blue and white reached a technical excellence that has never been surpassed." These dishes are of the rare "double dinner" size, 11" in diameter The dishes are each hand painted in a vibrant deep cobalt blue. We see a rocky outcropping with a pair of songbirds, beautiful peonies in full bloom, and a delicate flowering plum tree. The effect is gorgeous! The crisp cobalt blue border has intricate patterning with panels showing a single peony separated by scrolling vines and floral decoration. This decorative style was especially popular during the early Kangxi period.* On the underside, the dishes have the Chinese square or "Fret" mark inside a double circle in underglaze blue. A traditional Chinese scene can be beautiful and also convey symbolic meaning. Peonies symbolize female beauty, royalty, wealth, and honor in Chinese tradition and have long been adored for their bold size and beautiful colors. The plum tree flowers early in the spring, announcing the end of winter and the rebirth of nature. Hence, it symbolizes endurance and hope. Dimensions:11" in diameter x 1" tall Condition: Excellent Price: $9,600 * Blue and white shards painted with rocks and floral subjects have been excavated from Kangxi era Jingdezhen private kiln sites and early 18th-century Chinese shipwrecks...
