This large size but undeep coat rack has an amazing patina, it comes with a set of four perfect brass hooks and several smaller ones as well. They all have the perfect patina and the circular mirror too is the original one and certainly in good enough condtion for you to check your good looks before leaving. However, what makes this remarkable Arts and Crafts work of beauty stand out from anything we ever saw is the combination of geometrical inlays and the unique animal 'sculptures'. Around the turn of the century (so between 1890 and 1910) many Europeans first started to learn about exotic animals in countries far away. The artisan whom created this work of art coat rack must have heard about or seen a first photo of a komodo dragon and another photo of a shark or of another creature from the deep. The first owner most certainly purchased this piece because of the incredible workmanship. However, the exotic animal sculptures would also make this coat rack the perfect talking piece when visitors had only just arrived. In that way this finest quality antique was certainly also made to impress and to educate.
