Motoring Picnic Case, circa 1910
About the Item
Impressive six person motoring picnic case; circa 1910. The collection comprises six enamelled tin plates, six ceramic cups with matching saucers and enough cutlery for six individuals.
Additionally, it contains two enamelled tin food containers with lids, a ceramic butter pot, and two generously sized thermos flasks. This ensemble also includes various glass and metal containers.
Everything is neatly organised within a robust box, adorned with leather trim, a painted canvas covering and brass fittings.
Provenance: From the Ann and Gordon Getty collection, California.
Dimensions: 62.25cm/24½ inches (width) x 39cm/15⅜ inches (depth) x 17.5 cm/6⅞ inches (height).

Au Départ are one of the Grande Marques of French luggage makers. They were founded in 1834 around the advent of railway travel; Au Départ literally means 'at departure'.
