Three Beautiful Ceramic Tobacco Pots Made by the Royal Goedewaagen, Holland
About the Item
Tobacco Pots made in Gouda, the Netherlands by the Royal Goedewaagen in 1940. The pots are handmade, turned by hand, of so-called German Westwaldclay icw chalkfrom the St. Pietersberg mixed by Goedewaagen. Decorated with the Tin glaze Majolica technique which means that the Tin glaze is directly applied to the raw clay on which afterwards the cobalt blue pigment was painted. Because of this technique the blue decoration is slightly more vague than the typical Delft's blue. This old traditional Dutch way of decorating leads to craquelures/cracks in the glaze.
The pots have rare brass riveted lits. The three pots are in very good condition. One has a small chip on the bottom.
They will be shipped overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of insured transport to the US crate included is Euro 195.
