George II English Wall Mirror Walnut Fret Cut with Original Glass, Ca 1750
About the Item
This English hanging wall mirror is from the mid 18th Century, George 11nd period circa 1750.
It has a softwood frame construction, probably pine with hardwood figured walnut veneers to the front, which are all fret-cut, with cresting and base board sections. There is a moulded hardwood walnut section framing the mirror glass itself.
Two steel eyes are screwed into the rear to support the hanging string.
The mirror glass is original.
There is an old paper label stuck to the rear stating " Jubilee Vase
St Andrews , 1937 ". probably relating to its position in a previous house in the town of that name in Scotland.
Overall a good quality mid 18th Century English Georgian period Wall Mirror.
