Water Serpent (Palulukang) and Mud Man (Koyemsi) - Kachina Doll Brightly painted, dynamic sculpture by an unknown artist. The figure is dressed as a medicine man, with feather and fur accents. The Mud Man is holding a piece of leather and a drum, about to wrestle with the Horned Water Serpent (Palulukang) that is emerging from a pottery jar , or Mudhead kachina clown Also known as the Planet or Meteor Kachina, the Chasing Star Kachina doll is a unique doll that represents the spirit of the stars and planets. It is believed that Chasing Star controls the movements of the stars and planets in the sky, dictating weather and seasons. Signed on base. Date appears to be 10/73 The figure stands 14" tall on top of a 1" wood base. Approximately 7" at widest and deepest points.
