19th Century American Ball of String Holder

A whimsical 19th century American string holder in shape of a ball of string. The weight of the holder keeps it in place, but opens up when picked up. We have a similar one in our kitchen that we use to truss chickens, tie bundles of herbs for cooking, or to wrap packages with.
