Origin Made Ponte Tray in Maple
About the Item
These wooden trays are all about joinery details. The design of the Ponte Tray carries a Portuguese signature, as well as Scandinavian and Japanese influences. Ponte means bridge in Portuguese – a set of trays that support, highlight, and transport the things we love.
This particular tray in maple wood comes with a bookmatched veneer detail on the tray’s surface that gives it a distinctive allure. As a design prototype from the initial stages of product development, maple veneer was used to test the visual impact of the choice of the wood. This prototype was a crucial part of the journey of the eventual product. Maple as a finish option is now only available for project orders.

Origin Made
Origin Made was born as a desire to create objects with a soul. We work with family run workshops or solo artisans, pairing them with internationally recognized or up-and-coming designers to develop collectible products. We view our craftsmen as partners rather than suppliers, and we give a face to the hands that shape our products, promoting them alongside our designers. It is a brand that puts the heart in front of everything else, with a passion for the craft process that represent our intangible cultural value and heritage. We believe that the story of each object should be told from where it is born - the workshop of the craftsman - how it is made and the environment in which it is conceived. The recipient of our products deserves to know, in order to truly understand the piece they have received.

- White Porcelain Moer Mortar and Pestle Handcrafted in Portugal by Origin MadeBy Chris Liljenberg HalstrømLocated in Porto, 13The Moer Mortar and Pestle set, made from porcelain and chestnut wood, has a minimal yet sculptural expression. When in use, the heavy and elongated shape of the mortar ensures a sturdy work base. When not in use, the pestle rests naturally, following the inner shape of the mortar. This forms a beautiful and harmonious composition, indicating that it is always ready for use. Material: Porcelain and Wood 100% fully handcrafted in delicate porcelain, each piece is one-of-its-kind with potential variations in color, shape and texture. Observations of such differences across products or orders does not constitute a basis for order cancellation or product returns. Designed by Chris L. Halstrøm, made by João Monteiro and Carlos Barbosa. The Craftsman Carlos Barbosa and his two sons run a wood working factory in Paços de Ferreira. They produce high quality objects and furniture for both local architects and international clients. The unique thing about them is they stock a very large variety of Portuguese and imported hardwoods, and combine the best of hand and machine processes to make high quality products, in small to medium sized production runs. Based in Palhaça, near Aveiro, João Monteiro runs a small workshop previously owned by his father, where familiar feelings spark the minute we enter the door. Fátima, who has been working with João and his father before him, for over 30 years, tell us, while mixing the glaze with her bare hand, how the secret for a perfect glazing is in the constant movement, the only tool she needs is a soft brush to correct small imperfections, the rest of the work is done only using her hands. They all share the same concern about the future of the industry and their dream is to have a space that can host schools in order to expose younger generations to the magic of handmade ceramic.
