Wallace Sterling Bowl
About the Item
By the early 1940s silversmiths and major silver companies had begun to experiment with modernism and less ornate and more abstract designs. Here is an example of one such piece. This bowl has over fifty round, ball-like pieces decorating the edge. There are no etchings or motifs decorating it. It has a simpler and more modern feel than those of that period.

It advocated human craftsmanship rather than machine. The hammered effect isn’t perfect, reflecting the human workmanship and not that of a machine.
