Silver 'Smith' Inkwell.
An Arts & Crafts Elkington & Co. silver inkwell desk piece. The silver topped glass ink well sits in a recess on the Elkington silver tray, both pieces hallmarked Birmingham 1926. There is an amusing say embossed around the outside of the tray, 'For Boring In The Tree Of Life, And Taking Out The Pith, There's No Man Can Excel The Man, Who Bears The Name Of Smith'. There is also an engraved inscription 'FJ to Alice McCormick CC'.
