Peter Behrens 'German, 1868-1940' Osiris Art Nouveau Pewter Mustard Pot
About the Item
Rare Art Nouveau German pewter and green glass mustard pot and spoon designed by Peter Behrens (German, 1868-1940) for Liberty & Co and dating from around 1900. This rare mustard pot comprises of a removable green glass liner mounted in an open work pewter stand supported on three raised rods inset with green glass terminals. The mustard pot has a domed cover the raised finial inset with green glass and with a similar designed pewter spoon with an inset green glass terminal. The base has various impressed marks including ‘OSIRIS’ and is numbered 1083 with a 1 above a 2.
In good condition with some metal fatigue and wear associated with age and use.
