Whieldon Creamware Earthenware Pottery Teapot & Cover
About the Item
Staffordshire Whieldon-type creamware teapot and cover,
circa 1765-1775
The Whieldon-type cream earthenware teapot has a moulded design of grape vines and large grape leaves to the front and back. The spout and handle of a crabstock form. The teapot is decorated in oxide colours of dark green, blue and gray with, in places, the cream body showing. The interior is undecorated cream coloured. The teapot stands on three large paw feet with the top of the foot in the form of a mask face.
The cover with a loop handle with a moulded leaf to one side and grapes to the other.
Dimensions: 4 1/4 inches high x 6 1/4 inches wide x 4 inches deep. (10.80cm high x 15.88cm wide x 10.16cm deep).
