About the Item
A set of six Mid-Century earthenware Onion Soup au Gratins, The Pfaltzgraff Pottery Company, circa 1950-1960.
Six oven proof individual casseroles with side handles and matching top knobbed lids, glazed in brown with cream colored interiors.
Bottoms are faintly impressed with the early Pfaltzgraff Keystone shaped mark for York Gourmet Ware – Oven Proof, USA.
The Pfaltzgraff family immigrated to the United States in the early 1800’s and set up a small potter’s studio in York County, Pennsylvania. In the 1940s and 50s, Pfaltzgraff originated their Gourmet bakeware line for cooks interested in French cuisine.
