English Delftware Plate with Hawk Perched on Tree, London, Probably Vauxhall, Circa 1710-25 The circular plate is painted and sponged. It depicts a large hawk perched in a tree with other tree to each side. The border has concentric blue lines encircling the plate. The shape is associated with London. Dimensions: 8 1/2 inch diameter Mark: Blue script "F". Provenance: Robert S. Miller Collection, 1290 (Paper label on reverse); with Kevin Morris, 2009. Reference: See The Longridge Collection of English Slipware and Delftware, Volume II, Leslie Grisby, Page 164-165, D134, for a similarly decorated plate but with lion. Syd Levethan: The Longridge Collection, Christie's New York, Monday 24 January 2011, Lot 62 for a lion beneath trees very similarly painted as this plate.
