About the Item
Rare Art Déco Goldscheider Ceramics figurine
The dancer wears a dance dress in red-brown tones cut low at the front and back with a wide, short skirt, with a pattern of stylized flowers. Her brown hair is pinned up with a flower ring and feather headdress. Leaning slightly to the right and looking to the left, she brings her hands together behind her, wearing a long, light brown scarf.
The figure is based on a light gray, stepped round base with pearl ribbon decoration, Artist's signature 'Thomasch' on the back of the base top.
Designed by Wilheln Thomasch (1893 - 1964), who was an academic sculptor and ceramic artist, operations manager at Goldscheider Vienna, from 1926 had his own production in Sierndorf.
Thomasch designed this model circa 1924.
