About the Item
Studio Pottery footed bowl in mint condition by Otto & Gertrud Natzler.
Signed “Natzler” on the bottom. Measures: 3" H x 5 1/4" W.
Gorgeous robin’s egg blue glaze with drips appearing near the base.
The N724 tag on the base indicates the year of creation as 1966 according to
the book Natzler Ceramics published by the LA County Museum of Art in 1968.
Considered one of the finest pottery teams, Austrian born Gertrud & Otto were
Internationally known. They immigrated to Los Angeles in the 1930's and
continued to work in clay together until Gertrud’s death in 1971. She threw exquisitely
crafted pottery while he was the glaze master developing more than 2500 glazes
over their career. Otto passed in 2007.
