George Jones Majolica Game Tureen, of oval form, the dish with alternating relief-molded game trophies and fishing net swags, bordered in yellow glazed roping, the cover with a domed rustic mound with green glazed ferns and grasses, surmounted by a naturalistically formed recumbent fox guarding a dead game bird, the interior glazed in lilac, the reverse with brown and green tortoiseshell mottling and painted design number to the thumbprint reserve, '2262,' for the entry, 'Fox Game Pie Dish, turq. gr.' as recorded in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Numbers Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archives, Victoria and Albert Museum, UK, and reprinted in Bergesen.*
