Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Green and Blue Egg Vase, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1953

About the Item

Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Egg vase with blue and green haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1953 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "X" The entire body is covered with a deep, dark blue glaze, over which a double layer of green glaze has been applied, blending with each other and flowing gently throughout. The entire body is almost entirely covered with green glaze, but deep blue appears in places, giving the glaze a complex appearance. The glaze has a fine, dusty hairline and flows beautifully down from the mouth to the base of the vase. The shape of this vase is one of the cute egg vases with a rounded and swollen body, characterized by its chubby and gentle curves. Although small in size, the deep green and blue color is beautiful and has a strong presence even from a distance. It is a good piece to be used as a vase for a single flower in a bay window or other space to make the space more lively. It is in very good condition. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
