German Mid-Century Modern Ceramic Vase by OCA Kronach Kunst Bavaria 1950s
About the Item
Exquisite Mid-Century Modern German ceramic vase by Oca Kronach in Bavaria. With a design that includes incised perpendicular lines on a dark brown background with a foamy grayish lava glaze on the rim and bottom. The center portion of the vase has a glossy mottled blue glaze with a cut diamond pattern with a round indentation on center in chartreuse green, a rare modern production for Oca.
Oechsler & Andechser was in existence only from 1950-1955 before being acquired by Alboth & Kaiser also in the town of Kronach. The town of Kronach had been known by its historic name of Urbs Crana as far back as 1003. Many of the local companies would use the historic Crana name to denote their location. Oechsler & Andechser used the old name in its logo Oechsler-Crana- Andechser, Oca.
