Bell-shaped silver-plated cocktail shaker

About the Item

Classic 1930s silver-plated novelty cocktail shaker in the form of a hand bell, made by Asprey & Company. The upper section of the of the handle unscrews to allow pouring while the lower part of the handle unscrews for ingredients to be added. The filter is inside the handle. Art Deco was a popular design style in the 1920s and 1930s characterised especially by sleek geometric or stylised forms. It represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. For that reason silver cocktail and barware were popular categories of goods to reflect the style of the time.
