Blue Ceramic Potiche Centerpiece Vase Lid Majolica Hand Painted Deruta Italy
About the Item
Our elegant "Blue Parrots" potiche was handmade using the potter's wheel and then painted entirely by hand in Deruta, a town in central Italy that is among the most famous for majolica production. Dimensions: Height 42cm (16.54 in.), Diameter 26 cm (10.24 in.). The surface of the vase and lid feature a rich modular decoration composed of repeated peacock feathers, forming a rhythmic pattern. This surface, decorated in shades of blue, is divided into three bands by two thin borders finely painted with simple serial motifs. The wide central band includes a square geometric shape delimiting a finely crafted pictorial composition featuring two fantastic animals arranged in mirror symmetry and phytomorphic decorative motifs according to the original Renaissance painting technique.
Colors: vanadium, Deruta blue, linen mixed with carmine red.
The beauty of a deBlona majolica is determined by the ancient process, unchanged over time and handmade, which we observe to the letter in the creation of our artworks: painting ceramics is a very complex, fascinating and insidious art, but it is precisely the human and imperfect sign that makes every piece so characteristic and totally unique.
deBlona's essence is represented by the interpretation of the color and by an unrepeatable taste, with which we want to give new chromatic emotions.

deBlona
The creation of deBlona brand took place in 2020, triggered by a chance meeting between the entrepreneur Moreno Sagni and the designer Riccardo Mei: their common passion for art and Italian artistic craftsmanship led them to combine energy and skills to take on this challenge.
In a world that runs at overwhelming digital speed, they made a choice against the tide: stopping time, restoring value and prestige to an ancient craft, to an art. Because there are things that cannot be forgotten, even if today they sound so foreign to the new normal, far from the trends that end in a click. So, deBlona changes speed, following the rhythm of another time, that of the masters, and creating in places of quiet and silence. Our brand bets on that tradition that runs through history and continues to lead the chain of gestures of creation, inspired by today’s imagination and flair. Our atelier is the place where research and creation begin: it’s the house of the skilled artists on whom we rely to offer you the most exclusive and precious artifacts. Here, deBlona majolica comes to life, from each artisans’ deep knowledge of materials and techniques, to their experience and craftmanship. Each signature has its own distinctive feature: deBlona’s represented by the uniqueness of the decorations and the interpretation of the color. Majolica accompanies the history of mankind, telling its existence for centuries: here, in our Atelier, we want to keep on narrating our time.
