About the Item
Large Italian Orientalist marble and gilt bronze sculpture by Fatorini
Italian, Late 19th Century
Height 53cm, width 58cm, depth 33cm
This superb Orientalist Italian sculpture combines various high quality materials to depict a dynamic, in-action shot of an Arab warrior.
Bright white Carrara marble is expertly carved to depict the warrior’s garments. Numerous folds and creases are carved in the stone further emphasizing the life-like appearance of the sculpture. The bright gilt bronze is cast in the shape of hands, arms, face as well as the rifle. The bronze is too of the highest quality with fine anatomical features such as muscles clearly visible. The dynamic portrayal of the Arab warrior can be viewed from all angles adding to the desirability of the piece.
The figure crouches on top of a Sienna marble slab. Its neutral colouration beautifully plays with the rest of the composition. The base is signed ‘Fatorini’.
The combination of various mediums as well as the superb quality makes this sculpture a superb addition to one’s collection.
