Pair of Cenedese Scavo Glass and Bronze Bird Sculptures

About the Item

A rare pair of guinea hens in glass with the scavo technique. This technique was created by Alfredo Barbini and Cenedese in Italy, 1950s. The technique is a mixture of several powders dispersed on the glass service and then heated to 800 degrees Celsius. This creates color and texture to the glass. These beautiful birds sit on top of cast bronze legs. We have never seen another set of birds quite like these. This unique pair are sublime. One of the birds has loss on it’s beak and some yellowing on its tail which appears to be a resin repair by a previous owner. We have priced the pair for the price of one, due to the small imperfections on the shorter bird.
