Large, life-sized brass and copper toucan on a hanging perch handmade by Sergio Bustamante.
The world-renowned Mexican artist started creating unique animal themed metal sculptures in the 1970s. Sergio Bustamante, a luminary in the realm of contemporary art, has been crafting mesmerizing sculptures that seamlessly blend artistic creativity and technical finesse for decades.
Bustamante's journey as an artist began after leaving his architectural degree to start creating his own art pieces exhibiting how he interprets the world around him. His fascination evolved into a deep-seated passion, inspiring him to create captivating sculptures that reflect the beauty and majesty of nature.
This large toucan sculpture is a limited hand-made edition made during the 70s using mixed metal techniques with copper and bronze.

Sergio Bustamante
Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opening his studio. In 1972, Bustamante moved to Amsterdam, where he learned more about painting and design. In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculptures can be found in several cities, including Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Tiaquepaque.
