Alessandro Albrizzi "Nest of Snakes" Sculpture
About the Item
Baron Alessandro Albrizzi grew up in, and later inherited, the family palazzo in Venice, where the French doors that opened onto the garden had hardware embellished with bronze snakes. The memory of them prompted him to create the“nest of snakes” sculptures around 1970, when he was working as a designer in London and New York. Their Lucite tubes were tied in knots by hand, making each nest unique. They are among the last modern, decorative objects made in the 20th century.
