Artist Biography from his site:
Carbonell, considered among the most important Latin America Master Sculptors, graduated in 1945 from the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes “San Alejandro”, Havana, Cuba with the title of Professor of Modeling and Drawing. At the Academia his Professor Jose Sicre (a former student of Bourdelle) greatly influenced his work.
His chronological and stylistic trajectory commenced after graduation, when he traveled throughout Europe to study first hand the works of the European Masters. Upon returning to Cuba, his work during the 1940’ and 1950’s was religious and classical. After excelling and winning many national awards and recognitions, in 1953, he won his first international award at The III Bienal Hispanoamericana de Arte, Barcelona, Spain, with the life-size sculpture “Fin de Una Raza”.
In 1959, he departed for New York to commence the development of his intensively modern and contemporary work in the 1960’s, culminating on Madison Avenue, then pinnacle of the art world. He exhibited and had biannual One Man Show for over 15 years at the renowned Schoneman Galleries. Other artists exhibited at the gallery were Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Degas, Chagall, Gauguin, Braque and many others.
Many aspects of his rich and varied oeuvre, from his unique ever-transforming personal style and spectacular drawings to the monumental feeling he imparted to his maquettes and sculptures, led to commissions of major public monuments.
Carbonell's commissioned works, as in the 53-foot bronze monument "Tequesta Family" at the Brickell Avenue Bridge, Miami, Florida, was more figurative and the anatomical accuracy was more subject to the artist's internalized sensations, but in his contemporary critically acclaimed personal style, Carbonell searched for the essence of the form and the absence of detail while empowering a feeling of monumentality to his sculptures.
The uniqueness of his sculptures and variety of his interpretations provide a compelling evidence of his exceptional artistic talent. A brilliant combination of creativity and technique, a consistent originality and a “universal beauty” that the artist imparted to his work, has made his oeuvre permanent and transcendent to be recognized, appreciated and admired by present and future generations.
Undoubtedly, as Dr. Fred Schoneman, Director of New York's former Madison Avenue Schoneman Gallleries expressed in 1974, Carbonell is one of the “Masters of Sculpture of our Times”.

On stand 47” tall 7” x 7” Piece only 7” wide by 9” by 2 7/8” wide normal tarnish and wear It comes with the magazine cover of the artist and the custom made Lucite base. Artist Biography from the Guggenheim Yaacov Agam B. 1928, RISHON-LE-ZION, PALESTINE Yaacov Agam was born in Rishon-le-Zion, Palestine (now Israel), in 1928, the son of a rabbi and kabbalist, Yehoshua Gibstein. He studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem under Mordecai Ardon in 1946, moved to Zurich and then Paris, and studied at the Atelier d'art abstrait and at the Académie de la grande chaumière. While in Zurich, he met and was influenced by artist and teacher Johannes Itten, who was propagating Bauhaus ideas; he also found inspiration in Vasily Kandinsky's defense of abstraction, ber das Geistige in der Kunst. Insbesondere in der Malerei (On the Spiritual in Art: And Painting in Particular, 1911). His first solo exhibition was at the Galerie Craven in Paris in 1953, entitled Peintures en Mouvement (Paintings in movement), where he showed two series of early work. In one, grids of painted strips that incorporated different designs on opposite sides created images that merged and changed as spectators shifted their viewing position (a type of lenticular print that eventually became known as an Agamograph). In the other, his Transformable Pictures (Images transformables, 1953–61), viewers could manually activate works and rearrange their visual elements. While not the first Optical-Kinetic artist, Agam encouraged spectator participation at a time when such strategies were rare. He exhibited, along with other pioneers of Kinetic art including Alexander Calder and Jean Tinguely, at the Le mouvement (Movement) exhibition at the Galerie Denise René in 1955. He continued to produce abstract, Kinetic work that incorporated light, sound, and viewer participation. He also produced many public commissions, including a moving salon environment at the Elysée Palace in Paris in 1972. In the space, walls were covered with lenticular imagery; transparent doors were included; and a sculpture was placed on a Kinetic carpet. In all, the environment shifted according to the viewer's position. In 1979, Agam was asked to make a work of art to commemorate the peacemaking efforts between Anwar el-Sadat and Prime Minister Menachem Begin...Category

- Jean-Marie Giguère Abstract Fish Art Glass Sculpture Circa 1999Located in Miami Beach, FLBeautiful abstract fish art glass sculpture is by Canadian glass artist, Jean-Marie Giguère. He uses the Graal technique to create layers in the glass. The is piece is translucent with 2 engraved green fish with orange interior that reflects on the translucent section to make a muted orange color on the translucent area. Inside the orange section is a blue section (that I believe represents water) which also reflects on the bottom of the piece. Signed and dated 1999. From Espace Verre, Giguère’s has been working with the Graal technique. "This process combines glassblowing and engraving within layers of glass, revealing a smooth decorative pattern. He is inspired by everything, while appropriating each element. "I have searched for the common denominators to all humans, to use them as themes in my compositions: the body, territory, family, home, ancestors, religion, temples, God, nature, food, lovemaking, as well as symbols of identity," says Giguère.
