English Regency Cherub Inkwell with Candleholder
About the Item
Antique English Regency figural inkwell with candle holder.
In finely cast and original patinated bronze.
Set on ball feet the rectangular base has a figure of Cupid holding up a wreath between very well cast ink pot and sand pot with bodies decorated with horizontal lines and dotted lines at 45 degrees, the pot lids decorated with leaf and dart decoration and a rosette to centre with bud finial.
To the back edge of the base, one to each side are quill holders in leaf decoration.
To the centre of the base rises the candle holder forming a floral arch over the figure of Cupid. Rising from the centre of the arch is the candle sconce decorated with similar decoration to the ink pot and sander and further cross hatching.
