Dorothy Hafner Post Modern Art Pottery Bowl
About the Item
This wonderful piece by Dorothy Hafner (b 1952) was hand made by the artist. Though originally trained as a sculptor and painter, Hafner is probably best known for the tableware she designed for firms such as Tiffany & Co. in NYC and Rosenthal in Germany.
A pleasing design reminiscent of her famed Kyoto Homage series, the rigid square in the center is contrasted with the soft edges and curves of the bowl.
Two of Hafner's works are in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Bowl is in very good original condition and is hand signed and dated 1980 on the bottom.
