Black Glazed Ceramic Planter By Angelo Mangiarotti, Italy 1970s

About the Item

Italian architect and industrial designer Angelo Mangiarotti was extremely productive during his eclectic career and left few disciplines within his field untouched. Ranging within the spectrum from sculptures to product design and architecture in the broadest sense, it only leaves us stating he was a leading figure.DesignThis planter made of glazed ceramic consists of two segments. The foot or base is tapered and is gracefully topped with a shapely round vase. This vase sits in the foot through the bulge at the bottom. A simple but beautiful way to connect the ceramics without external fastenings but still solidly together. We also see this in the famous marble eros line that Mangiarotti designed for Skipper in the 1970s.This object obviously also has a sculptural value and can also be placed as such in the interior. The black glaze finish provides a timeless luxurious Italian look. Not subdued but very present through by means of a simple design.ConditionThe bottom of the foot bears the Brambilla stamp and still has the original rubber feet. The condition is very good with minimal signs of use. There are small discolourations on the edge and there are small scratches in the vase."
