Japanese Silk Thread Wood Winder Complete with Spool and Functioning Gears
About the Item
Japanese silk thread wood winder complete with spool and functioning gears. The spool still has the silk thread and an extra spool with different color thread comes with it. The three wooden gears work smoothly when cranked. Several kanji found in different places translate to names of people who would have used or owned the piece, or even made the tool. Miyashi Genkichi of Ueda-Machi, Ohshima Hirokichi, and the name of the place where possibly the tool originated from or was created, Nagano Ken (Nagano Prefecture), Hanishina Gun, Sawaki-Machi. Late Edo to early Meiji Period. Silk thread wood winder complete with spool and functioning gears.
