This is a very old carved wooden frog made in Japan.
It is from the early Showa period (1900s-1940s).
The material is probably walnut.
It is very well carved from hard natural wood.
Frogs are often placed in temples and shrines in Japan, as they are said to drink away evil spirits.
It is recommended to place it at the entrance of a house to ward off evil.
