Diane Freis Blue Floral Silk Georgette Dress, 1990s
About the Item
Diane Freis began her fashion career in the early 1970s and rose to popularity by the 1980s. Her comfortable and easy-to-wear, boho designs were extremely well received by her mostly Californian clientele. Freis’ designs are praised for being light and low-maintenance, perfect for the woman on-the-go. This circa 1992 dress is done in a vivacious printed georgette. A large floral motif of violet and crimson flowers interspersed by flourishes of green float across a royal blue ground. Beads in matching colors have been stitched on adding both dimension and texture to the fabric. The dress begins with a plunging V-neck surplice bodice that is lightly gathered into the shirred waist. From there, the skirt drapes to a gorgeous ankle-length lettuce hem. Three-quarter puff sleeves complete this design. This Freis dress is lively and effortless that is the perfect addition to enhance a spring or summer wardrobe.
