Camel Leather and Walnut Sofa from De Pas, D'Urbino Lomazzi for Padova, Italy
By DePadova 1, Gionathan de Pas & Donato D’Urbino & Paolo Lomazzi
Located in Almelo, NL
Mid-Century Modern two seat sofa - couch, patinated camel leather, walnut, De Pas, D'Urbino & Lomazzi, Padova, Italy 1970s Comfortable and gorgeous seating piece by these Italian masters. The patina of the leather is just how we like it to be. All cushions in great shape, no particular wear. The segmented walnut sides and back give it a very high-end design look. An uncommon, but superb design. Fully original and in stunning condition with minor patina from age and usage. Comfortable seating Paolo Lomazzi’s collaboration with Jonathan de Pas and Donato D’Urbino began in 1966. In the 1960s-1970s they developed a specific interest in creating furniture and temporary architecture with industrially advanced materials and technology. They designed and built a series of pneumatic structures for the Italian Pavilion at the World Exposition in Osaka, for the XIV Triennale of Milan and for Eurodomus. In 1967 they designed an inflatable armchair called Blow and since then have been working in the Industrial Design field. They planned and built Industrial and residential buildings and extended their focus to the diverse areas of Industrial products: home and office equipment, lighting, electronics, bathroom fixtures, etc. Their designs have been produced by well known companies such as: Acerbis, Alessi, Artemide, BBB Bonacina, Bellato-Pallucco, Bonacina Pierantonio, Bonaldo, Cassina-Marcatre, Driade, De Padova, Giannini, Lualdi Porte, Lumina Italia, MDF Italia, Naos, Valli & Valli, Poltronova, Quattrocchio, Robots, Scavolini, Stilnovo, Tonelli, Zanotta, Zerodisegno, Roset, Koizumi, and Santa&Cole. Since 1970 they have participated in many exhibitions, including the Triennale, the Eurodomus, “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” at MOMA in New York in 1972, the Bio in Ljubljana and in many Compasso d’Oro and ADI travelling exhibitions. They designed interiors and objects for several prestigious institutions: the ritual lamps for the Jerusalem Museum, the SAD exhibitions in Paris (1985 and 1987), the United Nations’s booth at the XVII Triennale (1988), the fittings for “Italianische Mobel Design...

Alessandro Becchi Green Leather Anfibio Three Seater Sofa for Giovannetti, 1972
By Alessandro Becchi, Giovannetti
Located in Vicenza, IT
Anfibio sofa-bed by Alessandro Becchi for Giovannetti, 1972. Fully restored and upholstered with high-quality sage green Italian natural leather. Mattress upholstered with soft sheepskin wool. The Anfibio sofa ranks among the most outstanding cult products of Italian design. It is innovative, original, and highly functional; it is a revolutionary sofa-bed, a symbol of high quality and sapient artisanry. It is possible to find it in the permanent collection of 13 museums worldwide, among which the MoMa in New York, since 1972. Alessandro Becchi designed the “Anfibio” sofa for the Italian manufacturer Giovannetti in 1970. It is characterized by generous dimensions and soft, embracing shapes that invite relaxation and comfort. It reminds a floating dinghy thanks to its lack of rigid mechanism. This feature inspired its name, which means amphibious. Furthermore, the sofa presents a rectangular steel structure and padding in non-deformable high-density polyurethane, covered with acrylic thermo-welded fibers and protective fabric. The Anfibio sofa by Giovannetti is available covered in leather or fabric and several colors. This artwork is the ideal convertible solution, the perfect combination of aesthetic research and innovative household living. Alessandro Becchi was born in Florence in 1946. He studied at ISIA in his hometown, and in the late 60s, he began his career as a designer. In 1970 he designed the revolutionary Anfibio sofa for Giovannetti. In 1972, thanks to the success of Anfibio, he was invited to the exhibition “Italy: the New Domestic Landscape” at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York. This date opens in close collaboration with Giovannetti. He designed a series of sofa-beds, such as Only You, Brando, Diletto, and the famous armchairs Le Bugie. Designer with considerable capacity, Becchi brings innovation, freshness, love for the project, establishing, in addition to an excellent working relationship with Benito...
