Wood-Fired Hand Built Bowl with Shino Glaze
By Helena Starcevic Ceramics
Located in New York, NY
This small hand built ceramic bowl is truly unique, from the rustic hand formed shape to the surface treatment. It was wood-fired in an "Anagama" kiln in Upstate New York, a traditional Japanese kiln. These kilns are made of special bricks built on a slowly slanting hillside with several firing chambers. Wood must be added to the fire over several days and nights. Heat and smoke from the ash swirls through the kiln, landing almost randomly on the work. Depending on its location in the kiln and any glaze that was applied, the effects can vary widely. This piece has a traditional Shino Glaze...

Large White Ceramic Bowl on Tripod Feet, Wave Rim with Hand Drawn Interior
By Helena Starcevic Ceramics
Located in New York, NY
Made completely by hand, this Large Ceramic Fruit Bowl with Creamy White Glaze is unique to the core from its unusual texture and hand carved drawing to the gorgeous glaze. The white stoneware clay was worked using several techniques, slab, coiling, pinching, and scraping, with hand drawing over the surface. Mexican Patamban Hand Painted Fish Design Folk Art Green & Brown Glazed Platter
Located in Topeka, KS
Stunning Mexican Patamban hand painted fish design Folk Art green and brown glazed pottery platter. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There is one small imperfection on the rim of platter that we feel is an unglazed spot might be a chip can’t tell. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-Late 20th Century. Something seems a bit “fishy” about this platter… Of course, it does!! That’s because there is a FABULOUS hand painted fish swimming through moss or a leafy vine in the center of this lovely Mexican Patamban pottery...
