Mark Lijftogt
Contemporary Still Life in a cabinet 'Basket of Lemons' by Mark Lijftogt

About the Item

Lijftogt was born in Amsterdam and at the age of 19 decided to pursue his creative path. He would spend every day for several years in the Museums of Amsterdam studying the old masters. Classical painting thus started to form the point of departure for what over time would develop into his beautifully elaborated panels. Mark has not lived in Amsterdam for a number of years, he much prefers to be far removed from the urban hustle and bustle and therefore lives in Overijissel a province in eastern Netherlands. It is here that he creates his brilliant masterpieces in his home studio. 'Lemons in a Basket' is a fabulous example of Lijftogt's work. Such amazing eye for detail is what makes this piece such a knockout piece. A beautiful colour palette has been used to create a stunning composition.
