About the Item

Rob Lenihan, Archetype Lightwave, 2024 Cast in resin mixed with marble powder, finished with a high reflective chrome surface 26.5cm (H) 9cm (W) 7cm (D) Edition of 10 Accompanied with a special edition street art collectors box based on memories from Rob's youth Rob Lenihan's work has its roots in a world of hip hop performance, street art, and the late 80’s acid house scene. His early music and art creative outlets provided an anchor at a time when searching for an identity and forming a new inner world. An inner landscape of sights and sounds, all set against a soundtrack of electronic beats of his home city of Manchester. Classically trained, Rob’s influences are wide ranging. From early New York graffiti to the Italian renaissance, from mythology to dance floor classics. Rob enjoys condensing multiple influences into small collectible art objects layered with personal stories.

Phed Wall-mounted, hollow concrete heart sculpture Hand-signed by the artist Original artwork This wall-mounted, sculptural work is in the shape of a large heart which appears to be made of brick and covered in concrete render. However the bricks are thin ceramic tiles, laid on a hollow fibreglass shell, meaning the work is lighter than expected, and easily wall mounted with the use of a backing plate provided. The work has an urban feel, suggesting inner city decay. The graffiti refers to an underground street artist who met an untimely death. Brighton-based sculptor Simon Shepherd...

Hernan Bas is best known for his narratively rich scenes that feature a wide-range of references spanning art and literature, popular culture, kitsch, the occult, religion, and mythology. Across his works, Bas seeks to defamiliarize everyday experience through humor, revealing the surreal and absurd lurking beneath the mundane. In conceiving this flamingo sculpture series, Bas was inspired specifically by the 19th century novel ‘Against Nature’ by Joris-Karl Huysmans. In the novel, the main character, an astute dandy of epic proportions, decides to cover a pet tortoise's shell with ornate jewels in order to see how the light would glimmer on it as it slowly treaded across his carpets. Bas imagined a fictional character of his own, a "Florida Dandy," who would naturally want bright pink flamingos as pets. The ball and chain keep them from flying away and simultaneously constrain them to a certain territory. . . . Fading pink (#3), 2016-2017 resin, feathers, galvanized metal buoy...
