About the Item
My Maasai girl sculpture carries the grace of the savanna in her stride, her life an eloquent dance of tradition and the vibrant strength of her heritage.
A Maasai girl, upon reaching adolescence, undergoes a traditional rite of passage known as "Enkipaata" a ceremony marking her transition into womanhood and preparing her for the responsibilities of Maasai life, reflecting the community's deep connection to their age-old customs.
My art is inspired by Africa and it’s magnificent wildlife and people. Seeing tribe people’s silhouettes in the blistering summer haze enthused me to branch out into human figurative sculpture.

Greetings from the southern hemisphere, Firstly a thank you to you for looking at my work and to 1st Dibs for providing this excellent platform to artists. My passion for Africa, its people and wildlife are an enduring hallmark of my life. Much of my bronze art is inspired by Africa's magnificent wildlife and people. Taking inspiration from the bush and my previous experience as a safari guide my creations strive to capture the essence and beauty of the animals I sculpt. My expertise ranges from figurative, wildlife, bird, abstract to African works and more recently bespoke furniture & lighting in cast bronze. Each piece is exclusively sculpted, cast, chased and finished by myself – from beginning to end. Using the lost wax method of bronzing, I cast each piece at my own foundry (The Black Dog Foundry) and it is finished individually by hand with each piece and patina being unique. Warm regards Heinrich Filter Commissions Commissions for sculpture and bespoke bronze furniture & lighting can be undertaken in bronze and are available in any size and are all exclusively sculpted and finished by the sculptor himself. Price on application. Please contact my agent 1st Dibs.
